Friend of mine is selling this 50 Chevy. It’s pretty nice, 78k, new paint in the 90's, mechanicals good. Only needs are exhaust and carpet he said. He was thinking to put it in Hemmings. I wonder if there’s a good place on the web...what say you Oppo’s? He doesn’t want to use CL.

I’d try to submit it to BaT, as long as he can have a reserve.

Second BaT as a possibility. Agree that CL is a very bad idea for this car.
Are there car clubs in your area that you could contact? They would have an idea of a forum, and they might even have the inside track on some potential buyers.

That's a wonderful way to describe old paint.

If there are forums or an owners club for that car, that would probably be the place to list it. Likewise, he might talk to folks at the shop(s) that work on it about posting a flyer and/or spreading word to folks they know that might interest. Good examples of classic and enthusiast cars are very often sold among folks that know each other, or know of each other through a shop/club/model specific forum and relatively rarely are advertised for sale to the wider public.

he ended up with it due to knowing a guy. He knows another guy that is selling a clean low mileage 79 Corvette for $5k under it’s possible worth so he wants to move this for that . It’s been “for sale” for a while so I don’t think any of his people want it.

Hemmings will probably be the best choice. Ebay, Craigslist, etc. attracts a lot of bogus responses, and even Hemmings will generate a little of that kind of attention. He shouldn’t expect to get the kind of inflated prices some of the TV shows like Barrett-Jackson make people think are possible- - - -most of that stuff is just TV hype.
This is the reply from my guy. He’s an old timer with LOTS of experience. Like 60 years. He ran a high school vocational program for a time that actually built engines that were used some NASCAR circuit.
Anyhow, there’s a bit you can consider. Personally, I don’t mind the dorkballs who reply to Craigslist posts because it just comes with the territory and I can usually tell which ones are bogus right off the top.

thanks, my friend is tech limited...extremely. So I’ll be posting the ad for him wherever else we decide to try if we do anything additional to Hemmings . He is very aware of the market and values though. I am curious if BAT is a good option, but I’m not sure the car is coveted enough as it’s a 4 door.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with also posting on BaT. But having four doors is not a plus in the sale price category.
